Defending champions Hungary, were a class of their own in their encounter against Uruguay and made it 2 of 2 in their Group A opening matches.

Hungary took the lead from the beginning and all Uruguay could do was cutting the difference to three goals (10:7), but Hungary regroupedand won the first set with a double-digit difference.
