Women’s Youth – Main Round, Matchday 3

Group A

Hungary continued their unbeaten run in the tournament after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Spain, and forcedFuriaRoja to suffer their maiden defeat. It was a dramatic game, which saw Hungary winning in the shoot-out with 5:4.

Brazil and Poland grabbed the other two available positions in the Group. The Brazilians beat Thailand 2-0, while the Poles prevailed over Ukraine with 2-1 in another spectacular game where a shoot-out was needed to break the tie.

Thailandand Ukraine will continue playing for places 9-16.

Group B

Greece was defeated by France in straight sets in the most interesting gameof the last matchday in Group A.With the last place in the quarter-finals at stake, the French qualified as fourth, and sent the hoststo the consolation round along with Puerto Rico.

Three teams tied at the top of Group B, therefore the games between them decided the final ranking. The first place was finally taken by Germany, while the Netherlands and Argentinatrailed in second and third place respectively.

In the other games, Germany defeated Puerto Rico with 2-0 and the Netherlands beat Argentina in straight sets as well.

Group C

Uruguay finished their matches in Group C with a second win over India with 2-0.

An easy victory for Romania against Hong Kong awarded themthe first place in the Group.
