Men's Youth: Main Round-Matchday 1

The matches of the main phase of the World Beach Handball Championship in the junior category started today. The twelve teams have entered the battle to secure a place in the final eight of the event. The matches will continue this afternoon with the second round of the main phase.

Group 1

In Group 1, Brazil got off to a strong start in their opening game as they beat group leaders Sweden 2-1. In the first set Sweden took the win, but in the second Brazil managed to score more points and send the match to a shootout. There Brazil got the valuable victory with a score of 7-6 and entered the main stage very strongly, entering the qualification match.

In the next match, Croatia continued their winning ways as they won 2-1 in straight sets over a fighting Iran and kept themselves in 3rd place. In the final group game, Qatar beat France 2-0 in straight sets to claim their first points in the main draw. So France, after Sweden's defeat, missed the chance to top the group with a lucky win.

Group 2:

In the games of the second group, where the Greek national team is located, they touched the edge, but in the shootout they failed to beat Germany and reach the victory that would have put them in a strong position to qualify for the eighth round. Combined with Ukraine's 2-0 set win over Jordan, the Greek national team finished last in the group and will be looking for their first points in the next few matches. Finally, Spain beat Argentina 2-0 in straight sets and remained in the hunt for the top spot.
