GROUP A – Matchday 2

With the first two places captured by Spain and Hungary,after both teams remained undefeated in their second Main Round game,only two more quarter-finalsticketsare still up for grabs in Group A of the Women’s Junior Beach Handball World Championship.

Spain beat Poland 2-0 (22:16, 20:13), while Hungary needed ashoot-out set to maintain theirwinning run in the tournament.

Hungary dominated the first set (27:18), but Brazil came back to make it all square (14:12). Nevertheless,the seleçãowere not that efficient in the shoot-out scoring only twice, thus Hungary snatched a crucial victory.

Brazil still holds the third place and needs to beat Thailand to qualify to the quarter-finals.

The Thais defeated the Ukraine with 2-1 (6:19, 13:10, 6:4) and are sharing the fourth place with Poland,but the European team has the upper hand in case the tie remains intact.

GROUP B – Matchday 2

Argentina, the Netherlands and Germany punched their ticketsfor the quarter-finals, meaning that there is only place left available and it will be decided in the game between Greece and France tomorrow (June 17) afternoon.

France got the victory they needed to boost their qualifying hopes defeating Puerto Ricowith 2-0 (28:13, 31:15), while the Greeks were defeated by Youth Olympic champions Argentina with 2-0 (22:18, 22:21). Both teams are tied in fourth place.

The Netherlands tried to force Germany to a shoot-out set, but did not succeed and suffered a 2-0 defeat (27:21, 23:22).
